This exhibition was co-curated by the students in a graduate seminar in Art History at Queen’s University in the Fall of 2023, under the supervision of Professor Una D’Elia:
Alana Batten, a first-year MA student in Art History, interested in early photography, archives, and modern art.
Emily Croft, a first-year PhD student in Art History, pursuing heritage preservation policy affecting archaeological sites in Sardinia and other rural areas of Italy, as well as digital humanities.
Abigail Gordon, a second-year MA student in Art History, studying medieval women’s devotional images and images of the Virgin Mary in 13th and 14th c. England.
Ariel Lacombe, a first-year Ph.D. student in Art History, interested in devotional sculptures of the late Medieval and Early Modern periods, image cults, miraculous images and popular piety.
Alice Maksimowski, a first year M.A. student in Art History, interested in gardens as a reflection of cultural influences, specifically in Poland.
Rebekah Nearing, a first-year MA student in History, studying womanhood in the Italian Renaissance and the performance of gender in 17th c. Venice.
Willow Simmonds, a second-year MA student studying mythological and Biblical influences of “first man” on early Italian Renaissance images of the Labours of the Months.
Ilinca Stingaciu, a second-year MA student in Art History, interested in cultural heritage preservation and religious architecture.
